Meet the RNs Behind Pioneer Pam
Hi! We're Sarah & Pam.
We're a Mother-Daughter nursing team in Minnesota. Between us we have 30 years of nursing experience. We didn't set out to start a company. We set out to find better options for our own families.
Sarah McKee, RN, BSN, Co-Founder and CEO
Sarah has spent more than 10 years as a Registered Nurse in pediatrics, the ICU, and the PACU, including work as a charge nurse. She's worked at Gillette Children's and Mercy Hospital and is BLS and ACLS certified. Today she runs Pioneer Pam's marketing, product testing, shipping, and operations.
Pam Scott, RN, Co-Founder
Pam is a Registered Nurse who worked on the neuro step-down unit and medical floor at Mercy Hospital. She's the one who started making the tinctures, researching blends, and growing the gardens. The true heart behind it all.
How it started
In late 2020, Sarah found land north of the Twin Cities. One of her must-haves was room to build for her parents, so now it's truly "over the hill and through the woods, to Grandmother's house we go" for her kids.
Once we moved, we started learning about the plants and herbs growing on our new property. That snowballed into Pam making tinctures and remedies for our own families. We trusted them enough to use them at home, and that's when Pioneer Pam started.
We were trained in Western medicine, and we still believe in it. We also saw its gaps up close. Our North Star is simple: modern medicine when it matters, nature first when it doesn't.
How we make it
About 80% of our plant material is grown on our own land from organic seed, without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. The rest comes from suppliers we've vetted ourselves. Every product is made by hand in small batches in Minnesota. Every bottle is received, filled, and heat-sealed by hand, with no outside filling. Our tallow is grass-fed and rendered by hand.
Why two nurses
We're not herbalists, and we don't pretend to be. We're nurses. That means we read the research, we think about safety first, and we'll always tell you to talk to your provider when it matters. It also means we know what it's like to want better for your family and not know where to start.
Thank you for being here!
Made by nurses, grown on our land, built for real life
